Teen Read Week- October 10-14

We are excited to officially celebrate Teen Read Week next week! Students can stop in the LMC during SRT to participate in a selfie station (complete with props) and learn how to make a light up bookmark. In addition, we will be taking nominations for the first ever DPMS Top Read Award. Nominate your favorite title to win the big prize.

For every activity that you participate in next week, your name will be entered into a raffle for exciting prizes including: gift cards, posters, and Scholastic Book Fair gift certificates. The more you try, the more entries you will receive!

Thanks for a great Teen Read Week!

We have officially wrapped up Teen Read Week 2015.  We had so much fun watching students participate in all of our activities.  A special congratulations goes out to our three winners who correctly uncovered all of the staff mystery readers.  (Stop in the library to see them all "uncovered"). We are still accepting book blind date reviews. Keep your blind date going, return your review, and exchange it for a prize once you have finished reading!

Teen Read Week- October 19-23

We are excited to participate in YALSA's Teen Read Week festivities beginning next Monday, October 19. The DPMS library has many fun activities planned for you.  We hope that you will stop in the library all week long and participate.  Your participation could also earn you some fabulous prizes.  Check out our flyer below for a complete list of next week's events.  We will see you in the library for Teen Read Week!

Teen Read Week has officially begun!

Today marks day one of our Teen Read Week celebration.  We will be connecting Teen Read Week this year to our Scholastic Book fair and celebrate both special events at once!  Below you will find a complete list of our fun activities.  Participate throughout the week to win some great prizes.  Check out the bulletin board outside of the library to see if you can unmask the teachers hiding behind the knight masks.

Another one of our activities is to guess how many mints it takes to freshen a dragon's breath.  Find the bucket of mints and guessing sheets on the circulation desk.  Beware the dragon!

Here is a complete list of our Teen Read Week activities.  Remember the Scholastic Book Fair will start beginning Tuesday, October 21 at 4pm and run through Friday, October 31.  We look forward to seeing you in the library!

A Book Blind Date

These lucky students took a big risk, but what a great chance it was! They have decided to risk it all and go on a blind date...with a book! In celebration of this year's Teen Read Week, "seek the unknown @your library," we have a cart of wrapped books waiting to be checked out to some brave readers.

Once students get to the circulation desk, they unwrap their books and learn what they will be reading. Every student who actually reads his or her book and completes the book review form wrapped with the book will receive a prize. Check out these happy readers and their "book blind dates."

Seek the Unknown during Teen Read Week

Where can I find the answer to the mysteries of life?  Your library of course!  Seek the unknown @your library from October 14-18 in celebration of Teen Read Week.  Throughout the week we will offer some fun activities such as a treasure guessing jar, the Scholastic Book Fair, and a mystery reader guessing contest where you have to uncover the identities of staff members wrapped up like mummies.  Check out the bulletin board outside of the library for contest details.  Here is a sneak peak of what you will find:

You can even go on a "book blind date."  Check out one of our wrapped books, read it, and write a review of it.  Turn in your review and receive a prize.

Oh, and don't forget about our All for Books Competition.  The DEAR group that brings in the most loose change to help purchase books for our school library and for schools in need will earn a donut party and $50 in Scholastic classroom cash.
